At Calming Corner, you’ll find counseling that brings you closer to the joy and inner peace you so deeply want, we all so desperately crave. Here, you’ve got a safe space to heal, grow, and thrive. Together, we’ll tackle how to work through challenging experiences, getting you what you need to keep a handle on your thoughts, feelings, and actions. 

Areas of Emphasis

  • An invisible threat to your well-being, depression takes many shapes and is more commonly experienced than we’re willing to admit. Treatment can be as simple as reflection and conversation. In therapy, you will learn ways to change, accept, or adapt to life events that are contributing to your symptoms of depression. We will work together to identify distorted thoughts and unhelpful behaviors that are contributing to your symptoms. You will learn skills to help you cope with your current symptoms and possible future episodes. No matter how we address depression, leaving it unchecked isn’t an option.

  • Naming trauma is the first step in finding a path forward, but often we fail to recognize events or experiences as traumatic. Together, we can identify and process past traumas, and develop practices for overcoming their impact.

    I offer Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) (in training). This integrative psychotherapy technique uses bilateral stimulation (BLS) to activate both sides of the brain. Through BLS, people are able to process difficult life events and build toward improved mental health.

  • Our world is fraught, filled with tensions, pressures, and impossible contradictions. Anxiety is how we express our helplessness under these conditions, but we don’t need to give in. Together, let’s build practices that mitigate the impact of anxiety on our presence, persistence, and perseverance.

  • From puberty to menopause, women face unique, often daunting challenges. Whether life’s big transitions or the day-to-day obstacles found in a wide range of relationships, a trusted sounding board can make a significant difference in confidence, empowerment, and well-being.

  • Young people need support, encouragement, and a friendly, unjudging ear. At Calming Corner, youth as young as 7 years old will find a warm, welcoming environment and patient, caring counseling to help them navigate the challenges of childhood and family life.

  • From LGBTQIA+ to BIPOC and beyond, the foundations of all treatment at Calming Corner Counseling are built on allyship. You will find an advocate, a partner, and a safe space to explore, heal, and tap into your empowered, powerful self.

  • Listening is the foundation of my counseling approach. Let me help you discover how to overcome your fears and live the life you deserve.

  • I specialize in working with women at transitional moments in life. Women are consistently burdened with forging a path for others through the hardest parts of life. From divorce to the loss of a parent, from new careers to building a family — in moments of radical change, it’s hard to keep your chin up and step forward with confidence when you feel alone. From relationships to significant milestones, I want to empower you to embrace change in a positive, productive manner.

    Additionally, I bring extensive experience working with young people and can promise that at Calming Corner, your child will feel welcome, encouraged, and safe.
